WINNER!

Roll up, roll up, the winner of the big giveaway is about to be announced!

Don't be impatient because before we get to the big news, I just have to say how much I have appreciated all of the swell hints that you have left! I have loved reading them and will definitely be putting lots of them into practice.

The lucky winner has been picked through a random generator and will soon be unleashing her inner 1950's housewife. I am particularly pleased with this winner because of the brilliant tip she left.

I have a gorgeous vintage G Plan sideboard in my house. I absolutely love this piece of furniture as much as anyone can love an inanimate object that is! Part of my love for this hunk of wood is probably the fact that it isn't being used as a sideboard but instead houses our craft supplies. One cabinet belongs to the Peanut and the other to me.

Now, I do try and respect beautiful things and this sideboard came to me in immaculate condition after being around for a pervious 50 years so I was absolutely horrified and frankly embarrassed that it wasn't long before we messed it up. Someone placed a broken leaking pen on the top of it which unfortunately sat there for several days. Once discovered it was too late and the wood had sucked up the ink and no amount of scrubbing with any number of cleaners was going to remedy the situation.

When our winner left a hint about using hairspray to remove ink from fabric I wondered if maybe this could translate to wood. Hey, there wasn't anything to loose, the stain wasn't budging as it was. So, out came the hairspray and it was like a freakin' miracle. I know this is a little like extolling the virtues of the latest laundry soap and all but this moment of stain removal did change my life! The minute the hairspray was applied the ink began to lift and the stain diminished-hooray! After two subsequent applications, the stain is but a mere shadow of itself.

So, JEN I am pleased to be sending you your prize and my sideboard and I are forever grateful to you and your hint! Congrats!

GIVEAWAY!

This is it, this is it! That's right, the big giveaway is here! I know you've all been on the edge of your seats and finally the time has come.

Haven't you always wanted to be a 1950's housewife? Of course you have, haven't we all? Well now is your chance to make all those dreams come true. See how happy she is in her perfect life? Yup, this swell giveaway is for one authentic retro 1950's style apron, perfect for channelling your inner housewife.

I do have a disclaimer though and it is one that you must consider carefully...
If you don this apron you will in fact be compelled to tidy, clean your home with lovely smelling things, lay out flowers and possibly create a molded jelly (or Jello for my American readers!). Seriously, something seems to come over people who wear this apron and unless you want to smile widely, extol the virtues of your newfangled electric washing machine and the advent of fish fingers, it may be best to stay clear.
If however that kind of thing turns you on, this is the giveaway for you!

What you will actually win is an apron like these pictured that will be custom made for you! You can chose the style, colour and whatever else we come up with once you've won. The apron is available in both adults and kids sizes and is currently not available anywhere but through this giveaway! That's right, this is an exclusive so get in there and have a go at winning!

Now, there is a wee bit of work involved (everything was harder in the 50's you know) but it's for the good of the community. In order to be in with a chance of winning one of these gorgeous gals I'd like you to do two things. Firstly, I'd like you to follow this blog (thanks, I love ya!). Next is I'd like you to leave a comment on this post in which you share your best household tip with us. I'll start you off with mine. That's it, simple huh?

Oh, the giveaway ends on Monday the 27th. Good luck!

Pink Inspiration

I have really been feeling like I lost my mojo or something. I haven't felt a whole lot of inspiration on the crafting front lately. I suspect it's due to being burnt out with the amount of stuff going on at The Peanut's school as well as constant baking. I'm really not complaining though! Baking has been great as I am constantly getting business so, no worries there.

The Peanut on the other hand has been a crafting wizz lately and has been sewing up a storm on her new red sewing machine. This was a gift for her 6th birthday and I am proud to say that she's been doing amazingly, having now made a bag complete with button and three "disco" doll skirts.

I have a craft show coming up in two weeks or so I am glad that inspiration has finally hit me. This has come in the form of a great find at the Salvation Army shop, or the "celebration army" as The Peanut calls it. In the linens bin I found two gorgeous old table covers with lots of cool embroidery that I have been able to cut into panels. These are being turned into cute retro aprons!

In addition to this we had a birthday party for a 4 year old to attend and she's a little girl that we like very much so I wanted to make her something special. I am feeling proud of the fact that the last few birthday gifts we have given have been handmade. I asked this particular girl's mum for an article of clothing she'd out grown but had loved. I was given a gorgeous little wool dress that had accidently been felted in the washer. It was turned into a very special cuddly bunny instead. I think I may try one of these in a lovely pink pincord that I have been saving, I've got some mother of pearl buttons for eyes.

Anyone noticing a lot of pink around here lately? Look out for my next giveaway which I will post about this coming week, probably something pink!
